Show, Don't Tell - not as easy as it seems.

For many beginning writers, the advice “show, don’t tell” seems obvious, but putting that advice into practice is much more difficult. This is particularly true if the genre is Sci-fi or Fantasy. It is so much easier to do the world-building by just telling the reader about the lay of the land or how some technology works.
However, this robs the reader of the experience of discovering these things alongside meeting the characters and following the development of the plot.
The easiest way to stay on track is to stay firmly in the point of view of the main character of a particular scene. Describe only what that character sees and feels and, perhaps, thinks. Reactions of other characters in the scene is portrayed by body language, movement, or dialogue.
